Hello and welcome to week 4 of One Room Challenge!
I decided to participate in the spring ORC to push myself to execute a project that I have been thinking of for a while but never got down to getting it done because I have been so busy in production and marketing my product.
If 6 weeks wasn't hard enough, I had to plan and organize my booth at HighPoint in the middle of all this. With limited time at hand, I have worked hard and took time to do research while at the exhibition during my 10-15min break time.
I was lucky to find Hudson and Mitzi lighting on the same floor in Suites at Market Square and Addison weeks and Modshop on the ground floor. Seeing the products on display always help generate new ideas.
I was able to take the different ideas and formulate them in to my design to create a functional and aesthetically appealing studio.
My Booth at High Point Market Spring 2018 Ldesign M-8046 at Suites@market Square in between Pyar&Co and Austin Allen James and across from Pandora de Balthazar Fine linen. All incredible vendors and a huge support.
Here some of the key items I have selected for the design --
Finally decided on Wall paper from Area Enviornments , was supposed to receive it on the 11th of May but they are working hard to make it available before the reveal day- crossing my fingers here.
Phillip Jeffries ordered and waiting until the end of the coming week.
Plexicraft I have to cross all of my body to receive it in time for install.
The Studio
I have always been more organized with respect to my projects for the ORC. Getting something completed in 6 weeks is always a challenge. For my second ORC project, which happened to be a Kitchen Renovation, I had done my research placed my orders ahead of time because a kitchen renovation cannot be done in 6 weeks.I decided to participate in the spring ORC to push myself to execute a project that I have been thinking of for a while but never got down to getting it done because I have been so busy in production and marketing my product.

Work in progress --
This week has been incredible difficult. I have been pushing my custom craftsman to create samples and commit to delivering the product in a short time.
The room is finally cleaned and empty. We finalized the electrical fittings - big issue because had to make holes in the ceiling in order to get the wiring in place for the wall sconce and the picture light.
The ceiling is primed and now we have to wait 24hrs- 48 hrs before we can use Fine Arts paint which is supposed to give a mirror look if the ceiling has been sanded well for hours. With limited time left I am going to do my best to get the sanding done to get the right finish.
Here some of the key items I have selected for the design --
- Wallpaper: Area Environments, Phillip Jeffries
- Paint: Fine Paints of Europe
- Table: Nuevo
- Mirror: Nuevo
- Lights: Hudson and Mitzi
- Lucite rods: Plexicraft
- Lucite hooks: Modshop and Luxholdups
- Ceiling hang bar: William Roberts Racks

Llxholdups hooks again hoping to receive hooks by 7th may. You can practically see I am walking on an eggshell here
Plexicraft I have to cross all of my body to receive it in time for install.
Mitzi Chandelier arriving in the coming week but the wall sconce after placing the order - am told that its backordered for July . Funny I had made sure to order only what was available but apparently the supply / availability changes on a day to day basis - hoping to get lucky here
Nuevo thankfully I should receive the order end of the coming week
Executing this in a short amount of time is still a huge challenge. We need to have the holes pre-drilled for all the pulls and rods before we install the wallpaper. This is a critical step to avoid damaging the wallpaper during final installation. It would help a ton if we had the hardware in hand, but now we have to improvise.
As you can tell, there is still a ton to get done on this project. All before it looks something like this -- More next week ...
